JVL’s RV-14: Finishing, Cowl Baffle (Part 2)

This blog was created to memorialize the building process of my Van's Aircraft RV-14 and to satisfy the requirements for certification in the Experimental Amateur Built Aircraft category. It will also serve as a central location for ME to reference in the future on processes and techniques I used during the build. Additionally, it will allow my family, friends, and other interested builders the opportunity to follow along during my build…..and might be helpful to someone along the way.

Finishing, Cowl Baffle (Part 2)

The work, pictures and video in this post are from September 23, 2021.

All the parts and pieces in this section were treated with alumiprep, alodine and Akzo primer. Additionally, I painted them with a silver epoxy paint (since they were going around the engine).

Below is the CB-00003 Cylinder #1 Baffle and the CB-00002 Forward Doubler before they were riveted together.

This is the CB-00001 Cylinder #2 Baffle. It has already been riveted to the CB-00002 Forward Doubler.

Here is the CB-00014 Cylinder #3 Baffle. It has already been riveted to the CB-00002 Forward Doubler.

Lastly, here is the CB-00019 Cylinder #4 Baffle. It also has the CB-00002 Forward Doubler riveted to it.

Below are three pieces…..the CB-00028 Cylinder #3 Bridge, CB-00029 Cylinder #3 Bridge Left and CB-00030 Cylinder #3 Bridge Right…..all riveted together.
